This workshop will teach parents tools for making effective requests of their teens and adult children. We'll cover; what is assertiveness, the challenges and benefits of being assertive, learn a new technique for assertiveness as well as how to adjust your level of intensity to suit the situation.

Parenting for Recovery in Your Young Adult Who is Struggling

We'll be discussing what changes when your child becomes a legal adult, common hopes and fears for parents of struggling young adults, how to focus on what you can control such as learning about and supporting the Mental Health Recovery Model, Positive parenting approach to young adult children and responding effectively to problem behavior.

Embracing the Power of Self-Control In Parenting

It can be hard to keep our composure when our children seem to be deliberately pushing our buttons. This workshop is for parents of children age 14 through adulthood and will cover ; What is self-control in parenting, Why self-control is so important for parents, Knowing our triggers for losing self-control, and Self-control tips and techniques for ourselves and our children.

What does PA say about a child's ability to consent to their mental health treatment, under what circumstances does that change, what are parents rights and responsibilities. We'll cover Act 147, Act 65 of 2020, HIPPA and more.

We'll be discussing the potential benefits of holiday celebrations, how holidays and family gatherings can be challenging for your teen or young adult and/or yourself, how to avoid potential problems at family and holiday gatherings.

Caring for Yourself and Your Child While Waiting for Help

This workshop is for parents/caregivers of children ages 6-26 who have realized their child is having a problem(s), called a service provider and are waiting for services to start, or their adult child has called a provider and is waiting for services. We will be discussing; What it's been like since realizing your child needs help, Ways to take care of yourself while you wait, Ways to care for and support your child while waiting and Ways to shorten your wait.
